17-3/4” Silver Large Clock Hands
The new 17-3/4 inch long silver spade style hour and minute hands offer every clock maker a great, really visible option when building your large wall clock design. Choose these hands with any of our “I” shaft high torque movements and you will have a clock hands kit for your large wall clock.
Silver is a color that can go well with a wide variety of clock dials. They work well with almost any dark colored type of clock dial. A black clock dial or a dark finished piece of wood would be good example. These hands would work well with clock faces ranging from 36 inches to 44 inches in diameter. Please also consider that the minute hand is balanced to reduce the “load” or drain on the clock motor.
If you are going to trim the hand to fit a particular size clock dial, the minute hand must remain balanced. Normally people just glue the material removed right under where it was cut from.
You can check the balance of any minute hand just by placing the mounting hole on your fingertip. If it lays there flat then it’s balanced, but if it falls off your fingertip, it’s not properly balanced. Please see our training videos for additional tips on repairing a clock.
These hands must be used with any of our “I” shaft high torque movements. If you have any questions please contact us by sending us an e-mail or give us a phone call. We are here to assist you in any way that we can.
